Self-Isolation and Victims of Domestic Abuse

Whilst in the UK there’s no strict regulation or ‘lockdown’ currently enforced, when looking to countries such as Italy, France and Spain, the prospect becomes a distinct possibility.

For many of us, choosing to self-isolate or following regulations should we move into a national lockdown phase would simply mean working from home until the restrictions have been lifted. However, for some, the prospect of being forced to stay in the home comes with an array of complications and fears.

For victims of domestic abuse, home is not the safest place, and being forced to live life in such close quarters, without the daily escape of visiting a workplace or social settings, could be dangerous or even fatal.

If you’re currently anxious about having to stay at home as a result of COVID-19, Women’s Aid provide an incredible support network for women and children suffering abuse, whilst men can seek help with Mankind. Both services provide a confidential helpline in the form of a telephone contact or a live chat facility.

At DRN, we operate an expert legal service for victims of domestic abuse. When working with a DRN solicitor, you can expect to receive continual support throughout your case. If you’d like to talk to a member of our team, please contact us on 01282 433241 and we will be more than happy to provide further information on the options that are available to you.
