DRN is proud to be supporting a day of footballing fun organised by a new sporting charity set up to prevent child abuse and help victims.

The event, on Sunday the 20th August, will be held at Nantwich Town FC’s Weaver Stadium and will cost just £14.00 to attend for adults and will be free for children.

With plenty of family fun activities, games, food and drink, the day is sure to be a fun and entertaining spectacle for everyone.

Our own Kiko Rodriguez – father of Premier League player Jay – will be participating in a match on the day, alongside other fan favourites including Paul Dickov, Mike Sheron and Trevor Sinclair.

Director David Lawson outlined the reason for DRN’s support, commenting:

The Offside Trust is so closely aligned with our priorities as a business, in terms of protecting children from abuse and seeking justice for former victims.

‘With the historic cases in recent years that have come to light, we’re glad to be able to help those who have suffered seek closure and compensation.

‘And although we can’t turn back the clock for anyone, we’re behind any effort to safeguard against future abuses of trust and power in children’s sport.’

The Offside Trust

Established in 2016 by former pro sportsmen Steve Walters and Chris Unsworth, The Offside Trust supports abuse survivors and makes children’s sport safer.

Steve, a former footballer and ex-golfer Chris both shared their own personal experiences of historic abuse and inspired hundreds more to speak out.

The Offside Trust has secured the support of sporting organisations, players and former professionals but work is ongoing to raise awareness.

Events such as next month’s football fun day will help shine a light on an issue within grassroots sports that can’t be ignored any longer.
