DRN supports Young Carers Contact

A big ‘Well Done’ is due to all DRN staff who donated Christmas gifts to young carers living in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale. Overall, our staff and directors donated 148 Christmas gifts including DVDs, books, games, puzzles, soft toys, sweets and chocolates.

The gifts were collected by Young Carers Contact who then distributed the gifts to young carers in the area who care for a family member who has a mental health, alchohol or substance misuse problem. Rachel Charnley, who co-ordinated the collection on behalf of DRN, said ‘All our staff wanted to do something for the young carers this Christmas……They are so selfless and they deserve all the help they can get. We had a great time collecting the presents and hope that they are enjoyed by the children, we were only too glad to help.’

It is estimated that there are about 175,000 young carers in the UK.  Young Carers Contact provides invaluable practical and emotional support to young carers in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
