DRN Supporting Young Carers this Christmas

Donald Race and Newton are once again supporting the fantastic young carers of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale this Christmas. Staff and Directors are digging deep to provide numerous Christmas presents to the young people in the local  area who care for a family member who has a mental health, alcohol or substance misuse problem.

The presents will be collected by the local charity Carers Contact who will then distribute the gifts to the children in time for Christmas. The charity works to support and improve the life of carers and young carers in the local area. Over the last 10 years, they have helped and supported over 500 young carers from across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale. The charity provides a range of services to young carers to help recognise the hard work they do every day and to help them manage with the emotional strain of caring, as well as providing the young carers with regular breaks from the caring role.

Last year staff and directors donated an incredible 148 Christmas gifts, including DVDs, books, games,  puzzles, soft toys, sweets and chocolates. This year we are hoping to do even better! Watch this space.
